Bendix BIW 105 W washing machine

Yesterday it worked. Today it doesn't. Quite possibly it has a baby sock stuck in it somewhere (not in the filter, however - that much I worked out for myself).

Ideal for someone who knows how to fix these things.

For more info, read the manual

My arm is largely ornamental at present, so if you think it'll take two people to get this into your motor, please bring a friend.

Spongey-chair-mattress-thing

Z-folding spongey item that folds from a sort-of comfy chair into sort-of mattress. Not a thing of beauty - the aztec print is pretty battered in places - but it's fine for children's doss-overs. Will store under a single bed. Assuming of course the crawl space isn't already stuffed with toys/bedding/old cots etc

7 September

Bunch of cabley bits

3 USB-device leads
2 microfilters
1 Thomson Speedtouch broadband modem

Cheap-looking plastic chair (purple)

Suitable for child under 4 who you can trust not to stand on it, lean back on it, or jiggle all over the shop on it. Totally unsuitable for my lad .

Rusty bucket (cream)

You say “bucket”, I say “swabber’s pail”.

Includes holey receptacle in which to wring sodden mop.

The side seam has been compromised by rust and there’s a hole in bottom, but it all adds character, right?

Excellent upcycle opportunity for a welder in need of a talking-point planter.

Approximately 27 bamboo canes

Mostly short and dirty.

Picture rail (scotia)

A few metres of picture rail cut into four lengths  - the longest about 5 foot, the shortest about

half that. On the whole, glossed white.

Patio slabs/flagstones

Thirty-one 18-inch square patio slabs + three slightly smaller ones. The smaller ones are yellowy. As for the larger ones, I couldn't say - they need a good power wash.

I also couldn't say how old they are but one thing's for certain: they're nothing fancy.

The aggregate is visible in a few of them, but if you were standing a shed on them then no one would know.

These need to be collected on Sunday evening or at a push Monday PM/evening. Preference will be given to anyone who confirms they can collect within this window.*

I'd recommend bringing a barrow, as you'll get them to your motor a lot more quickly, but that's your lookout. I'm afraid I can't carry them as my tennis elbow is being a royal pain in the, er, elbow.

14 June 2013

*Not only did a half dozen people fail to confirm that this collection window was acceptable, a bunch more said it was frankly unacceptable and that they'd rather collect on another day altogether. What am I, your waste-material warehousing bitch?!

A few old bricks

Previously used in walls. Probably. We use them for holding down tarpaulin, but they’d also be great for elevating disposable barbecues or making some kind of artistic statement.

Some are broken. Some are not.

Lumps of flint

I appreciate that size is relative, but I got a couple of big ones here – the sort you’d need two hands to carry. Unless of course you had really big hands.

There are a few smaller stones too. Each of these could be grasped (and lifted) with a single healthy adult hand.

These stones would be great for anyone looking to start a rockery. Or anyone minded to return large stones to the seaside.

Date stamper (made by Dormy)

Does date numbers 01-31 + three-letter abbreviations of month (JAN, FEB, MAR ETC)

On closer inspection, the first digit (ie 0, 1, 2 and 3) appears to have seen better days. It might be possible to fix this; otherwise it’s a date stamper that works only for the first nine days of the month.

Not suitable for stamping year numbers, abbreviated or otherwise.

No ink supplied.

My adidas

I bought these at least 15 years ago, but like a chump, got one size too small (8) so they really don’t have 15 years of wear and tear, not least as they’ve not come out from under the stairs for at least half that time. That said, I probably shouldn’t have put them in the washing machine last week as patches of surface leather have come off, exposing the padding beneath, but still, they’re clean.

They’re white cross-trainers with blue stripes and a little bit of green trim. When it comes to lacing them there are two options, but one is way more fly than the other. That’s how they’re laced right now. And coming from the 20th century, they’re vintage too. That’s right – vintage adidas! Please form an orderly line.

Big ole torch

Size is relative, of course, but chock-full of batteries I’ve no doubt that this device could serve as an impromptu cosh.

The casing is made of something like hard, black rubber, and it was manufactured by Duracell.

I’ve no idea when it last contained batteries so I don’t know what size it requires. Probably D, but don’t hold me to that.

Furthermore, what with having no batteries, I can’t test whether the bulb still works. Nevertheless, it looks robust – yeah, like a small billy club, but I said that already, right?

This torch would make an excellent decorative object in a shed or under-stairs cupboard, or maybe even the boot of a car.

NB:
This item exists only to cast light where there is darkness. It not a weapon and neither should it be used as one. Only Freecyclers who can promise a non-violent future for this item will be considered.

Kettle (not working)

Brushed steel Breville kettle. Looks nice, just doesn't work is all. Well, the funky blue light functions perfectly adequately, but when it comes to boiling water, that don't really cut the mustard.

Reckon you can fix it? You can have it.

16 May 2013

White planters (three)

Suitable for housing small to middling indoor plants.

All different shapes and dimensions, but white nonetheless.

Been in the shed for a bunch of months, so they're a bit grubby. In fact, one has dried coffee grounds at the bottom, but if that's a deal-breaker I could probably hose it down.
